Fishing on the River Swale is one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets! In fact, we really didn't want to set up a website but it's the way of the world these days! So what can we tell you? Well.....
The fishing:
There is about a mile of riverbanks here and an oxbow lake which adjoins it.
Nicked named the “animal farm” for the size of the Barbel and the fight they put up! You might also catch Chub, Bream, Roach, Perch and Pike. Please don’t ask us about tactics – we don’t fish ourselves and one of us is allergic to fish! The best people to ask are the anglers themselves and you might like to look at YouTube and CharlyFarly2 and his hints and tips for fishing the River Swale!
How to get here:
There is a map to find Cundall Lodge Farm Fishery at the bottom of this page. Please use the fishing entrance gate - this is the first gate if you're coming from the A168, the 4th if you're coming from Helperby. DO NOT ENTER THE YARD BY THE HOUSE. You must pay before you fish in the new concrete trough on the track. Please enter ALL your details and put this and your payment in one of the envelopes provided and post in the box.
Once you've paid you can go down the farm track - this is the entrance closest to the A168 - at your own risk to the river. Follow the track over the beck into the second field. When fields are wet in winter we prefer you to stop in the second field and walk. This saves the track and means we don't have to charge you to get pulled out! You can use the silver gate on the right hand side at the far end of the second field to access the Ox Bow Lake and Weir. If you continue on the track you get to the wooden gate - go through here to access the Big Bay.

Day tickets (12 hours) cost £5 (up to 2 rods).
